Celebrating 50 years of Manufacturing

On the 24 th of June Ogis Engineering celebrated 50 years in business.

From its humble beginning in StPeters, Ogis manufactured cast brass souvenirs. Otto Giesser (Ogis) a Hungarian refugee continued to shape the business and Ogis became the upmarket fashion shop fitters. With customers like Mark Foys and Richards Menswear.

In 1976 the Rushcutters Bay factory was destroyed by fire. The business was rebuilt and started specialising in the manufacture of furniture frames and display stands.

In 1994 the new managing director Kevin Adler moved the company to its current location in Rosebery.

Modern machinery was purchased including CNC Mandrel Tube Benders as well as Robot welders. Efficiency with the assistance of technology was critical for the survival of manufacturing in Australia.

Over the years Ogis has worked on its strengths and has diversified. Continuing to invest in new technology and promoting the training of its staff, Ogis now manufactures for the transport, defence, infrastructure, architectural, mining and manufacturing industries.

From simple tube bending pieces to complicated welded assemblies that require specialist welders and testing, Ogis continues to excel.
